I assume that Jones of yours is of the Dave variety.

Prices have been changed a little. Just to mess things up a bit more.

man, they do that ALL THE TIME. yahfool... always living up to it's reputation, eh? rolleyes.gif

so, drogs over shrek, jaz?

That's gonna be a tough one and the choice I'll likely leave until 11:58 am on the 14th laugh.gif

I rate Newcastle higher than West Brom and I think they'll play United a bit tougher. Will wait for the Shield game on Sunday and see who looks better.

Kolarov is now in for Boateng. I may end up dropping Malouda to Boselli which would allow me to get Berba or Nani for Campbell if I think I need a United attacker or upgrade my defence.

Ferreira and Bardsley huh? As for Campbell and Jones I can't say much, I think they have good match-ups but but I don't know if Campbell will start since both K.Jones and Bent are fit. As you said I think you should consider getting a Man United attacking player in. Nani/Berbatov are good but I think Valencia should come to mind too or even Hernandez as it seems he is really on fire even in the pre-season. A bit heavy on Chelsea though having all of Mal/Lamps and Drogba. I personally have Boselli so I think the Boselli for Malouda switch to be a sound one. Apart from that it looks good. smile.gif

Updated Team

C. Kirkland Wigan 3.77

P. Ferreira Chelsea 6.05
A. Kolarov Man City 5.73
Fabio Man Utd 5.73

C. Adam Blackpool 5.40
M. Petrov Bolton 9.09
F. Lampard Chelsea 20.66
Antonio Valencia Man Utd 10.89

F. Campbell Sunderland 5.28
D. Drogba Chelsea 20.97
M. Boselli Wigan 6.39

Available units 0.04

Fabio and Valencia come in for United in place of Malouda and Bardsley. With Evra being given an early rest I think Fabio is a decent bet to start and he should hopefully at least return his value. Allows me to get Boselli over Jones as another striker. Still unsure of Drogs or Rooney. I missed the game yesterday so anyone with insight who has an opinion is more than welcome.

Well Drogs didn't start and Rooney was relatively quiet and got subbed off eventually.

with the exception of Fabio and Drogba (I have Rooney and Bramble) we have the same team!!! And no I haven't pressed the save button just yet but I think it is a good team, back to your team, my only concern is Fabio and Drogba. Eventhough Drogba looked sharp when he did come, the problem is he didn't start. Chelsea did alot with the ball but just didn't have the finishing touch. But I really didn't like the look of Cashley and Terry, both looked out of sorts and tired. Malouda did very well on the wing, Sturridge was also notably good and it was his shot that VDS saved and came to feet of Kalou. Frank did well too but just didn't get enough chances as MUFC controlled the ball in the middle of the field with Scholes playing like he was 20 years old! Essien looked sharp when he wasn't in the holding role. Ferriera and Ivanovic were ok, nothing really spectacular. The rest I just don't wanna talk about as they were so sub-par in my opinion.

As for United Rooney I didn't see because I was unavailable for the first half, but he did setup the first goal so should be pretty good right? Nani played reasonably well but Valencia I think was on fire. Hernandez was very lively and deservedly scored because of his work rate alone. As for Fabio, I really don't know, if he will even start and I always say when in doubt...choose someone who is a sure starter! Smalling was crap, Evans did well until he was pushed to leftback. Scholes did well and got man of the match! Carrick was mediocre. Owen I dind't see (went off with Rooney at the half. Berbs was very sharp and lively and creative, at his best in my opinion. That's about it for the CS. Hope that was helpful.

hey there jazzyboy..am not considering rooney for one bit as he looks to regain his form..
dun get me wrong he shud start but i dun think he will start performing yet at the moment..i would definately be picking chichirito instead..he deserves a start i would think..either in the 1st or 2nd half..
drogs is another one who's just recovering so i would stay away as well..y not go for my 'insider' tip - anelka
he's looking sharp, too bad vds was top form on his day..i can see a brace coming from his vs west brom..

Managed to watch the CS on replay today in Canada and I've updated my team accordingly

C. Kirkland Wigan Sell at 3.77

P. Bardsley Sunderland 4.52
A. Kolarov Man City 5.73
P. Ferreira Chelsea 6.05

C. Adam Blackpool 5.40
M. Petrov Bolton 9.09
F. Lampard Chelsea 20.66
F. Malouda Chelsea 13.07
Antonio Valencia Man Utd 10.89

F. Campbell Sunderland 5.28
N. Anelka Chelsea 15.02

Available units 0.52

Anelka comes in for Drogs as he's more likely to get the start and he looked good in his time during the CS. Allows me to get Valencia for Jones. Still not sure about Ferreira or Bardsley but I'll wait to hear more about Alex in the coming days. Overall not unhappy with this lot for the first week.

This 3-5-2 looks different and good.
Except Ferreira, others are safe.

Looks good! Agree with you on the Ferreira/Bardsley issue. Only way I can see that changing is if you bump Anelka down to someone like Boselli maybe.

Close to final team

C. Kirkland 3.77

A. Kolarov Man City 5.72
B. Ivanovic Chelsea 9.64
G. Steinsson Bolton 6.39

M. Petrov Bolton 9.09
F. Lampard Chelsea 20.66
Antonio Valencia Man Utd 10.96
C. Adam Blackpool 5.40

F. Campbell Sunderland 5.28
N. Anelka Chelsea 15.11
M. Boselli Wigan 6.40

Available units 1.58

Dropped Malouda to Boselli to upgrade the defence a bit. Liking the looks of this group. If Ancelotti says Ferreira will start at right back then he'll come in for Steinsson. Still leaving a few units lying around but I'm fairly happy with this lot for week 1.

Thoughts??

Solid. wink.gif

I think do your best to get 11 starters in week 1. That's why I've also downgraded elsewhere to get 3 decent defenders that will (should) start. I'd love to have a cheapish Man Utd defender in there but it's just so risky with their game being on Monday.

I wonder if Wellbeck will start at the weekend with Campbell pushed back out to the wing?

I really like your team.

Anelka is a hit or a miss whereas malouda is someone who constantly performed in the 2nd half of last season so I'd "downgrade" anelka to Malouda and use the remaining units to upgrade Ivanovic to Bale.

If you want to go heavy on Chelsea attacking players then maybe get Bardsley+ Elokobi duo and see if you can get Malouda instead of Campbell. (something along the line of your old team but I think Boselli is better than Campbell)

Definately possible PTC but I can't see Bruce throwing a new face in there right off the bat particularly with the pre-season that Campbell has had.

If I decide to go with Malouda over Anelka it may be so that I can get Terry or Evans in place of Steinsson. I think Chelsea will get a CS this week with Cech possibly back and Terry is a sure starter.

Bale may play at left back and is thus not as good an option for his price IMHO

Unless he's injured there isn't a chance in hell that Campbell won't start, either up front or on the wing.
The Lampard news adds to our usual confusion. There's always something that comes along to mess with our heads. laugh.gif

Well this is my no Lumpy team and I quite like the look of it.

The defence should be able to return their value quite easily as should Kirkland.
Midfield is fairly diverse and full of set piece and corner takers
Forwards are all solid.

I like the 2 Chelsea, 2 ManU attackers. Campbell will definately start as PTC has said either up top or on the wing. I would like a Chelsea or United defender but they are far too expensive save Ferreira who may not start.

How's it look??

It's your Campbell and gretar to my boselli and van damme for now. I believe boselli has a slightly higher chance to score though... But gl, we will have a good wk!
