On Wednesday my wife and I are going downtown for the Christmas market, and lunch in Chinatown. Dim sum!

there are good dim sums and crap dim sums. make sure you go to the authentic ones, the ones that speak in cantonese as oppose to mandarin.

I've got 24 hours to brush up on my Cantonese/Mandarin language skills. biggrin.gif

I'l just go where I see the local Chinese eating. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me. smile.gif

You Wouldn’t Meh this stuff if you were here to try it. It’s amazing. Just arrived in Beijing yesterday and had some amazing Yunnan food already. The food, the people, the landscapes and the culture... this is the best trip we have made sofar. We absolutely love China.

1. I hope you realise that I'm joking.
2. I've been to Beijing before. wink.gif
3. What are your plans for seeing in the new year?

1 Apparently I am even dimmer than you give me credit for. sad.gif
2 Cool! What did you do/see/eat!?
3 Going home this weekend. We’re thinking about going to Colombia next December for now, but could well skip it to return to China in the spring of ‘19. Eventually we would like to have completed the trip from Utrecht to Hanoi over land. So it’d be a flight to Beijing, up through Inner Mongolia towards Ulaanbator and then either take the trans-Mongolia express to Moscow or fly home and take the express some other time in the oppositie direction. All in all we should have traveled Utrecht-st Petersburg-Moscow-Ulaanbator-Beijing-Xi’an-Chengdu-Kunming-Hanoi with some (a lot of) stops in between in the end. But that might well turn out to be a project of many years if ever we get to complete the trip.

1. Well...you said it. whistling.gif
2. That big brick thing that they have was kinda neat.
I do remember the Peking duck, and having the duck's head presented on a little plate. I ate that. wink.gif

Nowhere near as adventurous as you, but I've been to HK, Seoul and Tokyo out that way. Each has its own unique charm.
