Hi all

Currently on:

4.0 / [Fabianski or Pope]

Robertson / Alexander-Arnold / Digne / [Zinchenko or 4.5, possibly Montoya] / [Gibson, pending transfer deadline activity]

Salah © / Sterling / [Sigurdsson or KDB] / Perez / Dendoncker

[Wilson] / [King] / [Greenwood or a forward who has been loaned out of the league]

So, still a lot of unanswered questions...

I was concerned about the 4.5 GKs this year, however, Heatonís departure has at least cleared the mists slightly at Burnley. Although Pope is perhaps not 100% nailed, Hart is not favoured. Even Heaton himself offers an option at Villa if you can handle having a goalie from a promoted side. Lots of love for Henderson around, but again, itís a risk. At 5.0, itís hard to avoid the quality of Fanianski. West Ham are shaping up to play some real Kevin Keegan football this year! Shots conceded aplenty? I feel Fabianski is a good set and forget, but you pay 0.5 for that.

At the back, the consensus is that value has moved to the premium defenders, but five at the back just makes me feel queasy. Iíll move to a back 4 in all likelihood.

Iím going for the two Liverpool full backs, simply for the attacking numbers and defensive numbers - all the numbers! VVD at the back of my mind though for the goals (which i think will come), but itís easy to jump to him if necessary. I can see TAA and VVD being a viable corner/headed goal combination at some point - and you do get that 0.5.

Digne for attacking potential. Who knows if those Everton fixtures are a trap? Certainly they havenít fired offensively in preseason and thereís the question mark over their defence in the absence of Gueye and Zouma this year. However, Digne is an all action fantasy asset. Up and down the pitch, crosses, corners, free kicks. Coleman viable, and creates less but better chances, 0.5 less with goal threat. Injury risk though and Sidibe has been loaned for a reason. Iím sure weíll see Sidibe in the Eve team at some point.

So that leaves a 4.0, playing or non-playing. Lowest base price available with possible playing upside.

Fairly set on a 5.5 or 4.5 for the last slot, dependent on other selections.

Donít see Angelino as a major threat to Zinchenko, but a fit Mendy is. Thatís shouldnít be for a few weeks and wonít last long when/if it happens anyway, so Zinchenko is tempting. I like having a 5.5 for an easy jump to Man United, Spurs right back and other options in that bracket.

Montoya would be my punt as an attacking 4.5 with decent fixtures.

The choice of Fabianski depends on your budget as it is 0.5 more than pope. I prefer investing less in the keeper so I would most probably go with a 4.5 keeper

As for the defenders, the first 3 choices are excellent. Zichenko is for the short term as he may be rotated. This is a slight risk.

To choose between Sigur and KDB, for me it is easy KDB. Everton might have good fixtures but KDB is on form and city very attacking.

The only challenge is for how long you will maintain two bornemouth forwards. I would prefer just wilson and may be another one who is more long term.

Good luck

Thanks

Bournemouth forwards is more about price point. With a 2 x premium mid approach, I will need 2 forwards in the sub 8 category. Haller and Kean are on the radar, and Wilson and King offer a departure to these as the fixtures turn in week 3

Wilson + Dendoncker (Greenwood in my starting 11, Dendo on bench)
or
King + Trossard (Greenwood B1)

I think greenwood will not play. Deodoncker is a 2pt player.
So in that case option 2 is better.

Trossard should start GW1, on set pieces, decent fixtures.

Hi baat

I think salah is a must.
Going with the two premium forwards does not give a balanced squad.
For me siggy is also unpredictable.

Liverpool, man city, bornemouth and everton have good fixtures.

Settled on:

Pope 4.0
TAA Robertson Digne Zinchenko 4.0
Salah Sterling X Perez X
King 4.5 X

Any thoughts on either:

442 with Dendoncker, Wilson and Martial.

OR

451 with an 8 mid (Bernardo or Sig) and a 7.5 mid (Martial or Fraser).

Latter obviously has an issue with no subs of note, plus an inherent lack of flexibility in bringing in striker options.

Thanks for your help!

I know. I know. But, Sig... Pens... VAR (myth)... Pal defence and general malaise... Set pieces.

Ok, just cannot get comfortable with 1 up top. I'm sure that Sig is a great option, but, you know, you can't have them all (apparently). I'm looking at the Fwd to Mid to Def shift as an opportunity to get the Fwds in as Mids, so this is it:

Pope (Historic stats pointing to saves, hopefully a return to non-UEL form for BUR)
Button (Only second choice 4.0)

TAA (!)
Robertson (!)
Digne (Set pieces, fixtures, route to CHE and/or TOT def)
Zinchenko (Looks like the best way into the MAC defence in the sub-6 space, route to CHE and/or TOT def)
Kelly (Rico might start for a few weeks but is not well liked, Lundstrom now has competition and seems tenuous at least based on fan appreciation, Kelly should start a few and is 2nd choice RB and in the mix for 3rd/4th/5th CB back-up even with Cahill around, lets face it, Sakho and Tomkins have been out for ages)

Salah (!)
Sterling (!)
Martial (My punt)
Perez (Attacking role, priced before move, attacking team with a manager who doesn't defend, signed for a reason, better first 4 fixtures than is being said)

King (Fixtures, pens)
Greenwood (based on OGS comments should get some mins)
Wilson (Fixtures, and team structure)
