Americans with the Russian tricolor on their chests?! rolleyes.gif

QUOTE

The U.S. Opening Ceremony outfits look like the Russian flag
Russian representation may be thin in Rio next month thanks to the country’s doping scandal, but those back in Moscow will be able to see the Russian flag on another big delegation.

Ralph Lauren and the United States Olympic Committee unveiled the outfits American athletes will wear in next week’s Opening Ceremony on Friday morning and it didn’t take long for some to notice they might be better suited for athletes representing another country.

Ummm - don't you mean: Americans. rolleyes.gif

After all, we are the country that reports every global disaster with the same basic template:
  1. Describe horrific incident
  2. Announce total number of dead
  3. Qualify total number of dead with number of Americans killed, because, you know, we don't really care about anyone else, but American dead makes it "real" for us

For example, a problem at the Olympics would be reported as "And a fire at the Olympic Park caused mayhem in Rio, with 30 dead, including 3 Americans." Stopping at "30 dead" makes no sense; you have to make it "local" for our dense minds. Who cares that it subtly indicates the rest of the dead don't matter as much?

Sigh. And then we wonder why some people can't acknowledge our obvious over-reaching awesomeness. Sigh again.

I did actually type Yanks, but kindness forced me to change it to NBC.

You know, I have a long-standing discussion with a friend. I maintain that honesty (The Truth, and yes it needs capitalization), no matter how brutal (albeit delivered in a sympathetic fashion) is always the kindest possible answer. No amount of lying, no matter how small, white (side note: isn't it kind of racist that "white lies" are little and less harmful?) or innocuous is ever the kind thing to do. It may be the expedient, "path of least resistance" thing, but not kind. Allowing someone to live in the shadow of a lie is never kind.

Naturally, my friend disagrees and thinks that it is worse to hurt someone's feelings with brutal honesty than it is to tell a small lie.

Don't know what my point was, other than, wait - PTC did something out of kindness?!?!?
