The post-'vote' spin is in full swing with both sides a bit disappointed! Brexiteers can't stomach May taking us into any trade talks (should she even get us out!). Remember this is just the withdrawal bit of the process, trade talks once we're 'out'.

May at least can pretty confidently count on winning any 'no confidence' vote in Parliament as no Tory or DUP would ever side with Corbyn - hence their reluctance to strike, they haven't the numbers.

The danger now for the whole process is that she fails to convince the DUP that any legals are really binding, loses the deal vote and invites a cross-party approach that waters it all down just to get it through. The EU won't tolerate hardening the deal but would jump at any chance at softening it.

The fears of JRM & Co are real, she may be taking us down the road of no Brexit at all, as some have suspected all along. ohmy.gif

Don't worry, my British friends.
When the knavish Continentals try to destroy you, we'll come rescue your ungrateful asses, like we always do.

So what's May's game? And why when she goes to Brussels do all the leaders glad-hand her? I remember Cameron getting the cold shoulder when he was "negotiating reforms" to prevent a referendum?

The suspicion is it's all a charade, she has colluded with them to get a deal that is so bad it will lead to (cough) 'no deal' or no Brexit.

What if it's no deal? Isn't that a disaster? You'd think so reading the dire warnings but WTO don't think so and they're the ultimate experts as they run the whole show! Also if no deal was a disaster, it damages the EU too, wouldn't they do everything possible to prevent it?

Or is there another explanation? Maybe no deal was never an option?

To be certain of beating JRM she had to promise not to fight the next election and seek legals to the backstop escape. She has clarified she was talking about 2022 and has already ceded she is not expecting a breakthrough on legals! Has she conned the backbenchers, again? Will she say anything just to survive?

Having observed Thatcher's downfall I can tell you the hatred now is far worse than then, which was more pitiful. She has lost 2/3 of the non-payroll MP's and that's with her reassurances. She's already lost the grassroot members and if and when she reaches out to the opposition benches we will see mayhem... and Corbyn waits.

Oh dear, May seems to have overplayed her hand in a carefully stage-managed 'deal' with the EU... then Junker drops the bombshell! (maybe he was a bit drunk?) laugh.gif
