QUOTE (scoobyliscious @ Feb 5 2018, 11:12 AM) *
We have a theory in my family, after we all universally panned Gregory Maguire's Wicked: you know, the one that became a Broadway musical sensation? Terrible book. It was like a song with a great hook, ruined by lots of noise and a chorus that you couldn't sing along to.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I read this a few months ago and I didn't have a clue what the f was going on. A wasted opportunity to write what could have been a wonderfully interesting story.

So now we think that not understanding means genius? rolleyes.gif

I could actually agree but with some nuances, making it my own theory - the more meanings can be find in one book (novel, story, poem, song etc.), the better, and the more successful it can be... So, one understands it in one's own way instead of not understanding at all.

Though I reckon it suits the poetry better.

Nobody has said that.

The idea was postulated and theorised. Nothing more.

I don't think I'm alone here when it comes to being confused by your choice of words.

Just about to read Origin by Dan Brown. I like his books. Not a sophisticated writer but an entertaining one.

I read Angels & Demons, and Da Vinci, but didn't bother with the next two.

Do I need to read those two before trying Origin?
