Group A - Week 5 - Round-UP

12 pts RAPID
12 pts Sultan Of Barnet FC
09 pts Stortford All Stars
06 pts Joccki Balboa
06 pts Leehweb (S11)
00 pts Zokora's All Stars

Week 5 Results
Sultan Of Barnet FC 73
Zokora's All Stars 60.0

Stortford All Stars 63
Joccki Balboa 59

RAPID 70
Leehweb (S11) 66

Ah, yes I am back to winning ways. Which means poor ol' Zokora's All Stars are now the only team in any group without a win. Sorry mate, before Monday's game we were both on 60 pts. I had 1 player still to play and you had none, so I thought I was going to be very lucky and win at least by 1 or 2 points. Then my guy scores 13 points and it looked an easy win, but it wasn't.
Stortford All Stars grab 3rd spot with a win over Joccki Balboa in what looked like a very close and hard fought game.
Then we come to group leaders RAPID, who just beat poor old (and not on his game) Leehweb (S11).

Week 6 Fixtures
Stortford All Stars vs Sultan Of Barnet FC
Joccki Balboa vs Leehweb (S11)
Zokora's All Stars vs RAPID

Unfortunate timing mate but all is not lost, 5 to go and the field is nicely bunched. wink.gif

Even with 5 to go, the first group stage is really only for bragging rights. After week 10 all players will be seeded and replaced into groups and we then fight for the right to be in the Champions League or Europa League knockout stages.

So just use the first group stages to hone your FF skills ready for weeks 11 to 20.

Games Out line

All 48 teams will be placed randomly into 8 groups of six teams. Each team will play each other twice. FPL game points will be used determine each games winner and points awarded for a win or draw. This data is used to compile an overall mini group league positions. Which for the first group stage is not to important. It just gives people time to find their Fantasy Football legs and to weed out the no-hopers.

Ah right Carl, missed that bit! Phew, I've been sheet whistling.gif

So these 1st 10 'group' games are really just to sort out seedings, 1-48 for the real group stages aren't they? Get us used to groups and into the swing of things? So for seedings am I right in assuming 1st is paired with 48th in Group A then 2nd with 47 in B and so on until 24th is paired with 25th in H?

TJ, this is just the warm-up, relax yerself biggrin.gif

The H2H deciding metric may not need to be applied then at this stage as it's really just a 48 team ML for seedings and GD is probably primary and GS secondary Carl.

The reason why there are 2 group stages (in all honesty) is that 48 teams is easier to handle and if we just had each team playing the others in their group the game would be over about halfway through the season.

This way, it pretty much lasts all season. We do have a few spare weeks, so we can skip a week or two if needed. Like we did for week 1 when we didn't have enough teams to start.
If later on, we need extra time to sort out data or if games admins are away for whatever reason. We can miss a week with no problems. But basically the game will last almost the whole season.

As for how the teams are seeded in the second group phase, see Onto second group phase

and for Champions league and Europa League placement see

Europa League

Ah yes, forgot to mention the Inter-Nowhere Cup, I think when I first started this new section, real teams competed in the Inter-Toto Cup. Not sure if they still do or if it has been renamed?.

Teams that get knocked out in the very first round of the Champions League and Europa League.
Drop down to the Inter-Nowhere Cup. It just means all teams in the league will have some more interest for 2 more weeks.

After this, no matter what competition you are in, you will be knocked out when you lose, you'll just be fighting for a better placement in the Main FPL league, which when all said and done, is what we are all doing any way.

First Group Stage Week 6 - Group A - Round Up

12 pts Stortford All Stars
12 pts RAPID
12 pts Sultan Of Barnet FC
09 pts Joccki Balboa
06 pts Leehweb (S11)
03 pts Zokora's All Stars 1

Week 6 Results
Stortford All Stars 54
Sultan Of Barnet FC 41

Joccki Balboa 73
Leehweb (S11) 51

Zokora's All Stars 62
RAPID 47

Seems I am back to my true form, been doing well for too long. Came crashing down to earth by Stortford All Stars. Who not only beat me, they nicked top spot from RAPID and myself. We've been fighting the top spot out between us so far and the Stortford All Stars, swans in and takes it from us. Admittedly only on goal difference, but still!

RAPID lost to Zokora's All Stars who up to this week was the only team in the league not to win a game. Well done Zokora's All Stars, welcome to the game ;-)

Leehweb (S11) continues his poor form, losing to Joccki Balboa. Come on Lee, get your act together. Normally you are a hard team to beat.
International break coming up. Hopefully all players will return uninjured.

Week 7 Fixtures
Joccki Balboa vs Sultan Of Barnet FC
RAPID vs Stortford All Stars
Zokora's All Stars vs Leehweb (S11)
